Integrating HDF with the SRB
Peter Cao and Bob Mcgrath, NCSA
Michael Wan, SDSC
1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. CST
Room 3414 (REL) Beckman Institute
NCSA and SDSC are collaborating to integrate the NCSA HDF5 library and file
format with the SDSC Storage Resource Broker (SRB). HDF5 is widely used in
the scientific community, and the SRB is a powerful technology for collection
management and distributed access, including access to HDF5 files. Unfortunately,
access to individual objects (or parts of objects) in HDF files is not well
supported in the SRB. Since HDF files can be extremely large, partial access
is critical for many applications. This presentation will describe a joint
NCSA/SCSC project whose goal is to provide effective object-level access
to HDF5.
This seminar will
be presented live from both NCSA and SDSC and remotely via the Access Grid.
The Cyberinfrastructure Seminar Series is a set of presentations
on cyberinfrastructure and related research organized by NCSA and SDSC. These
seminars are available on site at the presenting institution and remotely via
the Access Grid. For more details regarding the AG venue for this seminar,
please refer to: http://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu/meetingdetails.asp?MID=9255.
All Access Grid sites are welcome to participate in this seminar. If you have
any questions, contact Jennie
